Performance Tuning WebWizard

Brief Tutorial of the Basics

We assume you have nmon running ...

The first screen is the main screen which contains all the vital information about your running system. There are more details about Disk, Network and Top processes on other screens. To get to these just type the first letter and to return press the letter again.

The basic commands are:

In the latest version of nmon these can be displayed at the same time, if you enlarge your screen (assuming here you are usings a X-Terminal).

If you cannot see the details press the letter "a"

The first screen contains the bulk of the details and should be fairly obvious what each means. If you return to the previous page they are more details of the individual stats and what they mean.

The most important for performance tuning are:
Area Screen Look for ...

Disk Main and Disk Main has the hot disk but the disk screen includes all the disk and CDROM including read, write, %busy.
